Local Reactions

I'm a libertarian, I believe people basically have the right to do whatever they want on their property. But this air park would trample the rights of thousands of people who live nearby. Noise, air pollution, water runoff pollution, risk of crashes, risk of criminal activity. Just no. If they want to build something like this, they need to find a property further south, away from all these neighborhoods.

The dream of wealthy airplane owners should not supersede the dream of families needing and wanting to live in a quiet rural setting.

Our family moved here for rural atmosphere, wide open spaces and nature and natural wildlife.... not having a local airport and traffic over head especially when I'm out birding and we are in fall migration of the waterfowl.

We used to live in midtown. The air traffic from the Charles Wheeler Downtown Airport was bad enough, but with some soundproofing and other adjustments we learned to tolerate it. However, in 2010, the airport lowered their gas prices, and suddenly air traffic was up substantially, all day and night. The planes weren't coming to Kansas City, they just were stopping to take advantage of the low gas prices. The point is, after something is already built, it's much more difficult to control. HOA agreements aren't written in stone. Once you open Pandora's box, you never know for sure what you're getting into.

I live due east of this property and am concerned for environmental reasons. I thought they wanted to build single family homes not happy to hear they have added condos to the mix.

I lived near an airport growing up. I remember having my girlfriends over for my first sleepover. One of my friends cried the entire time, the airplane noise was so distracting to her. She couldn't hear herself think, let alone get to sleep. My Dad had to drive her home.

I am signing this petition because I care about the health, quality of life, and financial stability of my county neighbors. The impact of this airport would be detrimental to the communities around it. Please stop all permissions for this airport build.

This is stupid. There are a ton of air parks around. And, the builder doesn’t even plan to build on the property. It his dream for others. People in the country want a county life, not to bring a city or so called village around. The neighbors just want a quiet life.

I think it's outrageous that outside investors can try to achieve their ends by circumventing local government's rules and regulations. We moved to the country to enjoy the benefits OF the country, not to "enjoy" planes taking off and landing nearby.

Cass county land is not intended for and air park… how bout you use the land as agriculture and make is actually be resourceful to the community and environment… there is already too much land being ran over by big corps down here…. Find some land in the city for all this crap stop taking our land.

Does not seem that the people involved have any concern for us.

Our area needs to remain agricultural/residential. There are a lot of farm animals in our neighborhood, having low flying planes would be very disturbing for them, not to mention our peaceful area.
