Functional Nanocomposite Materials
The shape of the polymer and the 1D inorganic molecular wire is the same and both have a diameter of 0.5 to several nm. Also, both polymer and 1D inorganic molecular wires are flexible.
In the case of composition, unlike polymers limited to Carbon, hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Sulfur, the Inorganic molecular wires have diverse compositions such as transition metal and chalcogenide. Due to this compositional variation, inorganic molecular wires can have a wider range of surface tension or surface charge than polymers.
In addition, the stiffness of inorganic polymers ranges from kPa to TPa, which is higher than that of organic polymers. Also, it has various electrical properties such as metal, semiconductor, and insulator, and exhibits excellent thermal stability.
From these points, we focused on combining 1D inorganic molecular wire with organic polymer with the concept of inorganic polymer.
