Trauma-Informed Pedagogy
What: NEA-New Mexico is offering its members and potential members an opportunity to participate in a virtual Professional Learning Community (PLC) to support successful completion of a NEA Micro-credential. Educators who participate in a PLC to complete a micro-credential are more likely to earn their badge the first time!
When: Wednesdays at 5pm MST between June 23-August 6 (30-60 minutes each session)
Who: NEA members + potential members (a potential member/current non-member will be required to pay a nominal fee of $75.00 per micro-credential to cover the micro-credential assessment cost during the six-month period)
Information about our Micro-credential that will be studied:
Trauma-Informed Pedagogy: The educator demonstrates an understanding of how trauma can affect student behaviors and responses within the school context and promotes students’ abilities to self-monitor and maintain positive engagement in all aspects of learning and interactions.
Types of Evidence Required: written artifacts, pamphlet OR brochure.

Classroom Management: Creating & Maintaining a Trauma-Informed Approach
Description: This module focuses on building an educator’s understanding of how trauma can impact student responses and behaviors. The module also promotes the educator’s ability to create and maintain a student’s positive engagement in all aspects of learning and interactions, actively minimizing the frequency, intensity, and duration of outbursts.
