Exchange Bank
In the early 1870’s the Exchange Bank was erected in this plot. In 1883, the Exchange Bank went into liquidation, taking with it many businesses in town. The assets were absorbed by T.L. and R.A. Rogers, who formed the Parkhill Banking Company in the same building.
In 1902, T.L. and R.A. Rogers sold their business to the Bank of Commerce (CIBC), where T.L. Rogers worked as the manager until 1915. The Bank of Commerce had moved to 234 Main Street in 1883. When they purchased the Parkhill Banking Company, they moved their business to this site, staying until 1923.
In 1947, the Doric Masons purchased the building, and continued to meet in this location until 1987, when they sold the building to Becker Milk Stores. The original building was torn down and in its place a Becker Variety Store was erected.
The building has been occupied by Subway since 2019.
