Site is on the northeast corner of Craig and Main St, across the street from Home Hardware.
In 1861, Shackleton Hey set up a private bank in this building.
After Hey, a grocery store was here which was operated by John Morgan, then a Mr. Dauncey, and then the Meadows family, who stayed in this building for 60 years.
The store was briefly run as a Theives' Market, before Diane Crawford opened Val-D-Lyn Flowers and Gift Shop here in 1978.
In 1982, Frontier Flowers of Parkhill bought the shop and Don and Elaine Holt became the managers. They greatly improved the store and rennovated the upstairs into an apartment. In 1986, the store was remodelled to make room for Hair Fashion Centre, operated by Ruth Rowe who ran the salon until her retirement in 2011.
This building was also home to Alan M. Gorth's law office, the Fiddle Fixer, a dollar store, and a craft and gift store until it was sold to David and Lyndsey Dryburgh, who operate a branch of Action Financial Group Private Wealth Management.
McLeod's hardware used this store for about three months in 1969 while their new store across the street was being constructed.
In the autumn of 1978, Sheldon Crawford opened Triple F, an outlet for processed turkey products, in part of the building behind the flower shop. In 1979, a fire destroyed the back part of the building. The fire, believed to have been started by a wood stove, was contained, but the flower shop had a great deal of water and smoke damage.
In 1980, a truck left Main St and smashed into the front of the store, causing $7,500 in damage.
