NMUSD Announces that applying for an elementary waiver would not expedite the process for schools reopening. It would have to open 14 days upon receipt of the application. That would have the opening on September 22. The earliest day the state said that we could reopen.

The Hybrid model consists of the following:
Two cohorts to reduce the number of students on campus at one time by approximately 50%
Two days of in-person instruction, two days at-home learning, and one half-day distance learning per week
During at-home learning days, students and teachers connect during the assigned period
At-home learning may include simultaneous, synchronous, asynchronous and/or independent learning and provides more frequent teacher/student contact all focused on moving learning forward daily
As needed, option to learn at-home every day while remaining at current school
Student supports with teachers are included four days a week in the bell schedule
One half-day per week dedicated to on-going teacher professional development and/or meeting time including strategies and practices specific to hybrid instruction

All secondary teachers will be given the opportunity to participate in training on the Florida Virtual Curriculum and Schoology. If the training is offered after work hours, extra duty hourly rate of $41.21 will be paid
Level 2 Hybrid Secondary Instructional Format:
· Four Days a week: Full day, alternate cohorts
§ Instructional Block: 80-90* minutes
§ Passing/Transition Time: 5-10 minutes
§ Lunch: 30-40 minutes
§ Student Support/Intervention Block: 30 minutes at the beginning of the school day, the end of the school day, or may be woven into the instructional block. Format may be in person, telephonically or via ZOOM.
§ “Daily live interaction” of at least 15 minutes with at-home cohort during the period scheduled.
· Monday or Wednesday will be a day of Distance Learning (DL)
§ Staff on-site
§ Instructional Schedule Includes:
o Instruction Block: 30-55 minutes
o Break: 15-20 minutes
o Lunch: 30 – 40 minutes
o Professional Development, Staff, Collaboration or Department Meetings: 90 minutes.
The waiver vote at secondary schools will be conducted in the same manner as above, by the site no later than November 5, 2020.

Nothing. The governor did not change any guidance for schools. Whoever is open are allowed to remain open without strengthening safety measures
Governor states a Stay at home order for most businesses . Schools are exempt. Activates when the hospitalization rate falls below 15%
Schools are supposed to maintain certain measures. NMUSD is only using some of those measures.
Negotiations for the Elementary MOU
MOU for Elementary Hybrid Instruction
Classroom teachers and special day class teachers will receive long term substitute rate in lieu of a report card release date both for second and third trimester.
Parent Conference Week: March 8, 9, 11 and 12, 2021 will be regular Level 2 school days, with AM/PM cohorts. March 10 is a student free day to conduct conferences.
Regular and special day classroom teachers will be compensated for a total of six (6) hours at NMUSD hourly rate. This is provided for the conference time offered on the other four days.
Beginning January 13, 2020, the Level 2 Hybrid Elementary Instructional Format will continue with a Distance Learning Day on Wednesday.
Site leadership teams will discuss and finalize a schedule that meets the parameters listed below.

Have the Distance Learning Instructional Schedule: A “morning meeting” of at least 10 minutes Math and ELA instruction occurs in two, 60 minute instructional blocks designed with a minimum of 30 minutes of synchronous instruction per student in each block. Students engage in asynchronous work while not engaged in synchronous instruction with classroom teachers during the instructional block.
Preparation Time: classroom teachers will receive 140 minutes of preparation time.

NMUSD will begin their roll out for surveillance covid 19 testing. Locations will be at TeWinkle and Back Bay.
XPRESS Urgent Care will be the vendor that will do district covid testing. They have 3 locations in orange county.
January 11 ( 3:30-5 pm) and 13 ( 3 pm - 5pm) will be the first two days of testing. The district will send out a sign up and send out more dates on the demand. This is covered by the district and not your personal health insurance and is free.

NMUSD will be doing safety inspections in January to make sure that we are following the newest safety guidelines.
We expressed the concern regarding the infection rates and people working at school sites and urged the district to reevaluate the choice of having teachers work at school.

Athletics are back! Outdoor High contact sports ( football; water polo) are back for practice and competition. Limited observers and weekly testing. Low and moderate outdoor sports will play and practice without testing
US Government is going to continue with standardized testing. States may write waivers for less accountability and measures but are not allowed to waive testing all together.
It is the first official week for teacher vaccinations in orange county. People have found much success through their medical providers and pharmacies ( CVS, Walgreens, etc.)
