National Mathematics Day, observed annually across India on 22 December, commemorates the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, one of the most extraordinary mathematicians of the modern era. Since its declaration by the Government of India in 2012, the day has served as a national tribute to Ramanujan’s profound contributions—spanning number theory, partitions, modular forms, infinite series, and continued fractions—many of which continue to influence contemporary mathematical research and interdisciplinary science. As a nation-wide celebration of the enduring relevance of mathematics in daily life and in driving advancements across science, engineering, technology, and data-driven fields, institutions mark the day through lectures, competitions, demonstrations, and interactive activities that inspire analytical thinking and mathematical exploration among students. In this spirit, SRIBS, in collaboration with BCM College for Women, Kottayam, organizes the National Mathematics Day celebration as an annual academic initiative aimed at nurturing mathematical curiosity, strengthening foundational learning, and encouraging students to appreciate the depth and relevance of mathematics in modern scientific inquiry, while also providing a platform for meaningful interaction among students, educators, and researchers.
Two students (UG/PG, or combined) from a college can form a team; a single person is also allowed to participate alone. If the number of participants for this event is more, there will be a screening test prior to the main rounds. For registration, please fill out this Google Form https://forms.gle/i1DKVdPRNCEbfbxR8 :
Decision of the judges will be final. The organizers reserve the rights to make appropriate changes in the conduct of the event as and when necessary.
There will be an expert talk on the same day, which will focus on the research works of Srinivasa Ramanujan. The talk will be accessible to UG level students and above.
There is no need of registration for the talk.
