Gaël Dias is a Full Professor in Natural Language Processing at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Caen Normandie (France) and develops his research activities at the CNRS GREYC UMR 6072 Laboratory.
Abstract of the talk:
In this talk, we will present the different applications of technological solutions for mental health with a particular focus on depression. As such, we will target the compter-aided early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders. In the second part of the talk, we will present deep learning models that have been developed for the estimation of depression level from different points of view:
multimodality, gender-awareness, emotionality.
Venelin Kovatchev is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Psychology, University of Birmingham. His research focuses on Natural Language Processing and Computational Semantics.
Abstract of the talk:
We present the first work on the automated scoring of mindreading ability in middle childhood and early adolescence. We create MIND-CA, a new corpus of 11,311 question-answer pairs in English from 1,066 children aged from 7 to 14. We perform machine learning experiments and carry out extensive quantitative and qualitative evaluation. We obtain promising results, demonstrating the applicability of state-of-the-art NLP solutions to a new domain and task.
Dr. Dietmar Heinke teaches statistics at the School of Psychology. His research focuses on interdisciplinary brain research integrating experimental work in psychology with theoretical/computational modeling work.
He also is a member of the Centre for Computational Neuroscience and Cognitive Robotics (CNCR).
Dr. Laura Groves is a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Psychology. She is conducting research using machine learning analysis techniques to identify children with intellectual disability at risk of developing challenging behaviour in collaboration with dr. Caroline Richards.
Alex Murphy is a PhD student in the psychology department who works on ML / NLP in the domain of psychological research and linguistics. He is also working on bringing techniques such as EEG analysis into NLP processing.
