Punit Parmananda graduated in physics from St. Stephens college, University of Delhi. He did his Masters and Ph.D. from Ohio University. Subsequently, he received a Humboldt Research Fellowship to do his post doctorate with Prof. Gerhard Ertl (Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2007) at the Fritz‐Haber‐Institut der Max‐Planck‐Gesellschaft in Berlin, Germany. Currently, he is a Professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. His research interest lies in the field of experimental nonlinear dynamics.
Pampa Dey (PhD Student) is from West Bengal (Howrah). She graduated in Physics (Hons.) from Narasinha Dutt College, Calcutta University, in 2016. Then, she did her M.Sc in Physics from IIT Delhi in 2019. She joined IIT, Bombay, as a Ph.D. student in December 2019, and currently, she is working on non-living self-propelled systems. Her work covers both the experimental and theoretical backgrounds. She has done her previous project on 'Developmental Biology.' She contributed to the image analysis and data analysis part of that project. She likes listening to music, and her hobbies include painting, traveling, and singing.
Aarsh completed his higher secondary education from RPTP school, Anand, Gujarat. He then joined IISc Bangalore to pursue Bachelors and Masters of Science (Research) as a KVPY scholar where he majored in physics with a thesis on circuit quantum electrodynamics in 2021. Owing to an immense interest in interdisciplinary sciences he joined the NLD lab at IITB in July 2021. He is recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF). He is exploring the physics of the brain by guided modification of brainwaves. He is also interested in social dynamics and modelling the dynamics of active particles. Besides science, he enjoys playing chess and reading. Find more about him on his personal webpage.
Sapna (Integrated PhD student) is from Haryana (Rewari). She has completed her higher secondary education from Suraj School, Rewari, Haryana. She graduated in Physics(Hons.) from Bhagini Nivedita College, Delhi University, in 2021. Thereafter, she joined IIT Bombay in 2021 as MSc student and converted to integrated PhD in 2023. Her research revolves around the intricate intricacies of Pentanol Drop Systems. She is also passionate about dancing, fashion designing and modelling. She also worked as intern educator on Unacademy.
Ratan Sarkar, a passionate researcher from a small village in Malda, West Bengal. He completed his BSc at Malda College in 2019 and then obtained his MSc from IIT Guwahati in 2021. In 2023, he embarked on a new academic adventure by enrolling in a PhD program at IIT Bombay.
His focus lies in the fascinating world of Janus particles, a realm of microscopic wonders that has the potential to revolutionize various fields of science and technology. Beyond the laboratory and the classroom, Ratan finds solace in the embrace of nature. His hobbies include trekking, a pursuit that allows him to explore the hidden treasures of the natural world.
Taniya Khatun is from Burdwan, West Bengal. She completed her graduation in Physics (Hons.) from Raj College, The University of Burdwan, West Bengal. She did her masters and Ph.D. at The University of Burdwan, West Bengal. Presently, she is a post-doctoral fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Maharashtra. During her doctoral research work, she studied the collective behaviors of coupled oscillators, mainly synchronization, oscillation quenching, and the chimera patterns of classical systems. The most interesting work on her is to understand the impact of noise on neuronal networks. And she also studied the nonlinear dynamics in the quantum regime. Recently, she has been focusing on community switching. In addition to her studies, she enjoys reading novels. Find out more about her at the following links:
