Odia has been recognized as the sixth Classical Language of the country and is the first to get this status among non-Dravidian languages, looking upon its prominence and uphold existence for over 2500 years in the history.
The Institute of Odia Studies & Research (IOSR) framed an initiative to promote and uplift the status of the language and taking fruitful steps, apart from giving it a legit recognition. It was, therefore, given a thought to induce the Odia language in such a globalized and modernized society.
During the tenure 2014 to 2017, IOSR organized four National Language Conferences which were attended by many scholars and attracted to enthusiasts from across the country, showing eminence in the fields of Linguistics, Languages & Literature. Accordingly, the Fifth National Language Conference 5NLC-2019 is now scheduled during 4 – 7 February, 2019. This is jointly organized by the Ravenshaw University, Cuttack and IOSR, Bhubaneswar.
