I. Scope of the Journal
Educational Review is a purely scholarly academic journal in the field of educational research. Non-academic manuscripts, news or report-style articles, teaching handouts, complete theses or dissertations, professional development or training reports, and translated manuscripts will not be accepted for publication.
II. Manuscript Style and Formatting
Both Chinese- and English-language manuscripts must follow the formatting guidelines specified in the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). All manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word.
For Chinese manuscripts, PMingLiU (New MingLiU) font should be used. Punctuation marks and spaces must be full-width characters.
For English manuscripts, Times New Roman font should be used. Punctuation marks and spaces must be half-width characters.
Except for headings, all text (Chinese and English) must be in 12-point font.
III. Titles
Chinese titles must be bolded. English titles must capitalize the first letter of each word, except for articles and prepositions.
IV. Length of Manuscripts
Chinese manuscripts: up to 20,000 characters
English manuscripts: up to 10,000 words
(Word limits include abstracts, keywords, main text, tables, notes, references, and appendices.)
V. Abstracts and Keywords
Each manuscript must include both Chinese and English abstracts:
Chinese abstract: up to 500 characters
English abstract: up to 300 words
Provide 3–5 keywords for both Chinese and English abstracts:
Keywords should be listed in stroke order (Chinese) or alphabetical order (English).
Keywords must be bolded and placed one line below the abstract.
Chinese keywords are separated by “、”, and English keywords by “,”.
VI. Organization of the Manuscript
(I) Required Sections
Manuscripts should be organized in the following order: Title, Chinese and English abstracts, Chinese and English keywords (no more than five), Main text, References, Appendices (if necessary)
(II) Title and Major Section Headings
The manuscript title and major section headings in the main text must be centered. Do not use numbering such as “I, II, III,” “1, 2, 3,” or chapter/section labels. Leave one blank line before and after each major heading.
(III) Subsection Hierarchy
Subsections should follow a two-level hierarchy as follows:
Level 1: Flush left, bold
Level 2: Flush left, bold italic (run-in)
(IV) Paragraph Format
The first line of each paragraph must be indented by two full-width characters. For personal names, technical terms, or proper nouns that are foreign in origin, the original term should be provided in parentheses at the first occurrence. Subsequent occurrences do not require annotation.
VII. Tables, Figures, and References
The formatting of tables, figures, in-text citations, footnotes, and reference lists must conform to the latest APA style. All publication years cited in the text and reference list must use the Gregorian calendar (AD). For periods prior to the Republic of China, dynasty-based dating may be used. In the reference list, Chinese references should be listed before English (or other language) references, and Chinese references should follow the same formatting conventions as English references.
VIII. References
Authors are encouraged to cite published literature whenever possible. Unless required for specific research purposes, authors should avoid citing unpublished theses or dissertations.
