Sahana won the Student Challenge “Your Step into Solvation Science” 2026, organized by the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
She will be joining Prof. Dominik Marx’s group at Ruhr-Universität Bochum for a three-month research stay in Germany.
Vasanthapandiyan attended the International Conference on Carbon Capture and Utilization (ICCCU-25), held from December 15–19, 2025, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru. Best Poster Award, awarded with a ₹ 5,000 cash prize. This award is sponsored by the National Centre of Excellence in Carbon Capture and Utilization (NCCCU).
Sahana published her first paper in the J. Phys. Chem. A. The paper has been selected for the cover art. The two UG students, Tiya and Vanshika, were a part of the publication. Both have the first publication
Vasanthapandiyan has been selected for CSIR-Direct Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) under the Physical Chemical Sciences (August 2025)
Vasanthapandiyan and Vanshika's paper got accepted in Polyhedron as a part of John Popple's special issue. Vanshika got her first publication from the OUR project.
Vasanthapandiyan presented a poster at the Summer School Solvation Science (2025) organized by Resolv Cluster of Excellence & Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany.
Vasanthapandiyan completed the three-month internship with Prof. Marialore Sulpizi at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, under the Resolv Student Challenge Program "Your Step into Solvation Science".
Sunidhi and Aksh graduated with a B. Sc. Chemistry and M. Sc. Chemistry degrees. The convocation held in May 2024 conferred the degree. Sunidhi performed her final year UG project Aksh pursued his M. Sc. thesis with us. Both Sunidhi and Aksh were the first UG and M. Sc. students joining the group.

Vanshika and Amit joined the group under the Opportunity for Undergraduate Research (OUR) program.
The group attended the DAE-BRNS National Symposium on Advances in Atomistic and Continuum Modeling (DAE-SAACM2024), held at BARC, Mumbai. Vasanth got the best poster prize. Shagun and Sahana got the prize for group participation
Dr. Karmodak delivered an invited talk at DAE-BRNS National Symposium on Advances in Atomistic and Continuum Modeling (DAE-SAACM2024) on continuum simulation approaches for electrocatalysis.
Dr. Karmodak delivered an invited talk at Sagamore-XX, held at SNIoE in November 2024, on electrocatalysis for sustainable energy generation.
Vasanth's paper, published at Nanoscale, "Tuning the product selectivity of single-atom catalysts for CO2 reduction beyond CO formation by orbital engineering", got selected under the theme Nanocatalysis

Shagun participated in the Theoretical Chemistry Symposium-2023 and presented a poster on the electrocatalytic activity of metal oxides for water splitting.
Vasanth participated in Modern Trends in Inorganic Chemistry 2023, held at IISc Bangalore and presented a poster on single atom catalysis for CO2 reduction.
Krithik and Dr. Karmodak participated in the DAE-BRNS symposium 2023, “Atomistic Modeling of Molecules and Materials (AMMM-2023)”, held at BARC-Mumbai, December 2023. Krithik presented a flash talk, and Dr. Karmodak gave an invited presentation on the atomistic modeling approach to electrocatalysis.
