Hello and a warm welcome to each of you! I'm Julia Rolwing and I bring to you the NJ Vocal Arts Collaborative. I'm so happy that you will be joining our first virtual Singing Summit!
As a Wagnerian soprano, who values the voice and its amazing power to communicate through great music, and as a teacher with degrees in education, voice pedagogy, and performance, and experience teaching every age and level of singer, I am thrilled to now be providing experiences for deeper understanding and stage learning for emerging classical singers of the New Jersey area!
As a singer who has enjoyed working with music and stage professionals from the Metropolitan Opera, L'Opéra National de Paris, La Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, and many others, I'm pleased to offer you creative ways of looking at the singer's art, through an expert panel of master teachers and presentations, in this year's Summit. Enjoy! Reach me directly at: artisticdirectornjvac@gmail.com

Welcome! My name is Brent Chancellor and I'm the Music Director and Conductor of NJVAC. I'm very excited to launch this virtual Singing Summit, and look forward to meeting and hearing you. This is a very good time to develop your craft and skills, and I hope this Summit will serve as a catalyst for focus and opportunity.
My journey in opera began as an Assistant Conductor to Paul Nadler (Metropolitan Opera) at the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, where I also studied diction, stagecraft and coaching with such greats as Joan Dornemann, Gerald Martin Moore, Benton Hess, Sherrill Milnes, Marc Versatt, Joshua Major, Dietlinde Turban Maazel, Ira Siff and many other magnificent artists. I've worked with many musicians and singers from The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, La Scala and Lyric Opera of Chicago, and gained immense knowledge from each of them. I've conducted around 20 operas and almost 200 orchestral works. In these discussions I look forward to sharing the things I've learned that have helped me become a better musician, performer and colleague. I look forward to the weeks ahead. www.brentchancellor.com

Greetings, friends, my name is James - you can also call me Jimmy. For NJVAC, I have served as stage director and in our new, virtual season my seminars and master class will focus on acting. I hold two degrees in voice performance (Montclair State University, BM, 2014; Indiana University, MM, 2016) but, since 2017, have transitioned to an acting career in musical theater. My goal for our time together is to help share some insight on how to develop and meld a physical presence with the vocal demands of an operatic artist to help you become a dynamic, multi-faceted performer especially as the vocal arts - opera, musical theater, oratorio, art song, etc. - progress forward as more homogeneous entities than they have ever been, historically. I look forward to meeting and working with you all. Feel free to visit my website at JamesConradSmith.com.
James' Class Schedule:
Friday, July 10: Discover Your Role: The Science of Character Development
Wednesday, July 15: Staging Rehearsals: Interpreting & Interacting with your Stage Director
Sunday, July 19: Masterclass
