Eligibility: The New Jersey State Science Day Competition is open to individual 9th-12th grade students in New Jersey public, charter, private, magnet, vocational, or home schools.
The slide deck template is posted in the For Students section.
Students nominate a science teacher who has sparked or supported the student's interest in STEM.
Final submissions must include a student-produced video that briefly identifies the problem, the need for action, and the solution to the problem.
The video must be viewable by anyone with the link.
Upload the completed photo release and consent form into the submission form.
Winners will be selected by a judging committee using the criteria posted under Judging Guide.
New for 2023, there are three categories of awards:
State Winners
Projects that are outstanding among the entries will receive the highest honor of State Winner.
County Winners
Up to three projects from each county. can be selected as County Winners. These can be any combination of individual or team projects.
Students enrolled in New Jersey magnet or vocational high schools will compete in a separate statewide category. Two students from the New Jersey magnet/ vocational high school category will be selected as winners.
Honorable Mentions
Judges may grant Honorable Mention awards to projects that are worth celebrating but may not be in the top three from their county.
Awards Ceremony
The winners and their nominated teachers will be recognized as outstanding in science at an event* hosted by the R&D Council of New Jersey (tentatively scheduled for May 2023)
