Currently, I am doing Post-doctoral research (ANR HotTips project) under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Bonamy, Dr. Cindy Rountree, and Dr. Laure Chomat in the CEA Paris Scalay/IRAMIS/SPEC/SPHYNX
Research focus — “Physics of Fracture: Unraveling the role of near-tip local heat onto crack dynamics.”
I received my PhD titled “Investigation of Consolidation Methods for Developing Load-bearing Structures from Lunar and Martian Regolith Simulants” under the guidance of Prof. Koushik Viswanathan and Prof. Aloke Kumar in March 2025 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. My publications (see publications) explored a variety of consolidation techniques for fabricating construction materials and their assembly into structures suitable for extraterrestrial environments. The insights gained from my PhD work contributed to the development of a robust and sustainable construction process for space applications and garnered much media attention (see gallery). Moreover, it underscores that my interdisciplinary expertise lies at the intersection of materials science, experimental mechanics, and space technology, particularly in dealing with inhomogeneous materials and understanding their failure mechanisms. I possess strong skills in mechanical and materials characterization, including the testing and analysis of composites and regolith-based materials. My academic training also encompasses nanotechnology and ceramic processing, and I have actively participated in international conferences focused on sintering and advanced materials. Before my PhD, I worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIC College of Technology, Kanchikacherla, Andhra Pradesh. I obtained my M. Tech degree in Materials Science and Technology from the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala, in 2018, and my B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in 2016. Apart from research, I love playing cricket and have represented IISc at various levels in cricket tournaments, including IISM and KSCA leagues and tournaments.
