Mr Sundar Pichai
CEO of Google and Alphabet
Pichai Sundararajan better known as sundar pichai who born on Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India and graduated in IIT-Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering and got an opportunity to study on Stanford University in materials science and engineering.
Pichai worked in engineering and product management at McKinsey & Company. Pichai joined Google in April 1 2004, where he led the product management.
On 2005 launched Google Maps - today has 1 billion active users. Initially he worked on Google’s search toolbar as a part of a small team. The toolbar gave users of Internet Explorer and Firefox easy access to Google search.
After a lots of struggle he developed Google Chrome on 2008 which has 64.5% today's market share. On 2008 he became the vice president of Google.
On 2013 Headed the Android One project - increased android users from 230 million to 1 billon.
On 2014 Rejected the CEO position offer at Microsoft and Twitter - stuck to Google. Became the first non-white CEO of Google on 2015.
Launched Tez in India - 30 million transactions within 2 months - eventually rebranded to Google pay on 2017. On 2019 he became CEO of Alphabet Inc. also the highest paid CEO in the IT industry.
sundar pichai was awarded with Padma Bhushan and he said ‘India is a part of me...’ on 2022
IIT-Kharagpur was awarded Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, an honorary Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) degree. The ceremony took place in San Francisco on 2024
