Lecturer (Junior Associate Professor) Takashi Nishitsuji, Ph. D.

Takashi Nishitsuji is a junior associate professor at Toho University, Japan. He received B.E. and M.E. degrees from Chiba University in 2011 and 2013 and a Ph.D. degree in engineering from Chiba University in 2016. He was a researcher of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Information Technology R&D center from 2013 to 2018. He was an assiatant professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University from 2018 to 2023. His research interests include computer-holography, high-performance computing, image processing, and social simulation. Member of Optica, OSJ, OSJ-HODIC, OSJ-IPG, IPSJ, IEEE.

電子ホログラフィの高速化をシステムレベルで考える

Considering High-Speed Electronic Holography at the System Level

究極の3次元映像技術と呼ばれる電子ホログラフィですが，極めて膨大な計算処理を必要とすることが実用化の障壁となっています．高速計算アルゴリズム，高速計算機・システム開発の従来より主流であった取り組みに加え，実用化後の電子ホログラフィを想像してできる高速化の工夫を探求しています．例えば映像の遠隔伝送や，適用対象を考え，システムを俯瞰する目線での高速化（＝実用化）を考えています．

Electronic holography has been called the ultimate 3D imaging technology, but the extremely large amount of computational processing required is a barrier to its practical application. In addition to the development of high-speed computation algorithms and high-speed computers and systems that have been the mainstream, we are exploring ways to increase the speed of electronic holography by imagining what it will be like when it is put to practical use. For example, we are considering remote transmission of images and other applications, and are considering speed-up (i.e., practical application) from the perspective of looking at the system from a bird's-eye view.

技術的な障壁が大きい電子ホログラフィの研究進展を考えるためには，映像技術としての実用化までに，有用な技術の適用先があることが理想だと考えています．そのために，ホログラフィ技術の映像以外の用途への適用に加え，高速計算技術の他分野への適用を探求しています．より短期に実用化可能なアプリケーションを見つけることが，映像技術としてのホログラフィの早期実用化につながると考えています．

In order to consider the progress of research in electronic holography, which faces significant technical barriers, we believe that it would be ideal to find useful applications for the technology before it is put to practical use as an imaging technology. To this end, we are exploring the application of high-speed computation technology to other fields, in addition to the application of holography technology to non-video applications. We believe that finding applications that can be realized in a shorter period of time will lead to the early commercialization of holography as an imaging technology.
