At Nirvana Massage Academy, we’re dedicated to helping you achieve that dream! Our 500-hour program is approved by the Arkansas Department of Health/Massage Therapy and is tailored to fit your lifestyle. We offer classes two or three days a week, and either option can be completed in approximately 6 to 7 months.

How's it work?

To become licensed in the state of Arkansas to practice massage therapy you must first complete a 500 hour training program, consisting of (175) hours of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and contraindications to massage therapy; (225) hours of massage technique; (25) hours of hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, and heliotherapy; (25) hours of hygiene and infection control; (25) hours of massage therapy law, business management, and professional ethics; and (25) hours of related subjects as approved by the department of health . Once you have satisfactorily completed this program, you will them be able to sign up for the Arkansas State Licensing test or the MBlex. Upon passing the MBlex, you will submit an application for licensure for Arkansas to the Dept. of Health. They do require a background check (including fingerprinting) and a passing grade on the state law exam.

Enrollment Process

All prospective students must:

Meet with an instructor for a one on one interview
Fill out school application and submit high school diploma or equivalent
Submit a physical from a medical doctor stating the student poses no health risk to give and receive massage
Sign School Enrollment Agreement
Apply for an Arkansas Student Learning Permit

Requirements for Massage Therapy Learning Permit

Proof that you are 18 years of age or older (photo id and ss card)
Provide a state and federal criminal background check
Complete an Enrollment Agreement with school
Pay $75.00 Non-Refundable for Massage therapy learning permit application

Once enrolled, you will have your own personal access to my Google Classroom. Syllabus, assignments,etc all at your fingertips. All 500 hours have to be completed in person. This class is not available online.

I received my master massage license in 2009 and began teaching massage therapy at a local school. In 2014 I became director of Education and director of Admissions of that school. And now I own my own business, Nirvana, and my own school, Nirvana Massage Academy.
