PhD Research Work
Development of a gravity and orientation independent boiling based heat spreader for hot spot mitigation.
Facilitate bubble departure passively during pool boiling irrespective of the heater source orientation and gravity.
Utilize the high heat transfer of boiling for thermal management in space and earth at any heat source orientation.
Device should effectively spread the heat from a small area to a relatively larger area.
Facile fabrication, light weight, and reliable.
Device should be able to tackle any hot spot of 1000 kW/m2.

Bubble departure irrespective of the orientation was demonstrated.
Significant enhancement in heat transfer coefficient was observed.

Bachelor of Engineering (Project Work)
Developed a wicked heat pipe using water as the test fluid.
Analysis were performed using FORTRAN to select a suitable working fluid and dimension of the heat pipe.

About Thermal and Fluid Transport Laboratory
The Thermal and Fluid Transport Laboratory works under the direction of Dr. Rishi Raj, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Patna. The work in this laboratory mainly focuses on thermal and fluid transport during the liquid-vapor phase change, interfacial interactions, and surface engineering for efficient thermal management of earth and space based applications.
