The history of Africa is long, diverse, and unique.
From Ethiopia's 'cradle of life' and Tanzania's forests of mountain gorillas to the 'land of the free' in Liberia, each land and people are unique, each with a story worth knowing.
Africa is a massive continent with over 50 independent countries, 3,000 different groups of people, speaking over 2,000 languages, for 50,000 years.
Human life began in what is now Ethiopia some 300,000 some years ago, according to long-accepted scientific evidence. Changing climate, rare resources, challenges in distributing basics or education, unseasonable weather, and unstable social change magnify the issues, risks, and cost in lives.
Drought, famine, and disease are horrific, but sometimes unusual conditions or governments can make it catastrophic. Fortunately, we CAN do something to ease the suffering in thiese conditions.
Beyond providing basics (which is a good start), enabling local communities to choose and provide for themselves is a more sustainable option, benefitting the world at large as well.
