Last updated: September 19, 2026
Welcome to NioSky ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application NioSky Weather (the "App").
We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in all our data practices in full compliance with Google Play Developer Policies and GDPR/CCPA guidelines.
---
### 1. Location Information Disclosure (Prominent Disclosure)
NioSky requires access to your device's geographical location to provide essential core weather services:
- **Location Usage**: We access approximate and/or precise location data solely to retrieve real-time weather forecasts, precipitation radar tiles, severe weather alerts, and local air quality indices (AQI) for your immediate surroundings.
- **No Background Tracking**: Location coordinates are requested on-demand only when the app is active or when you explicitly refresh weather data. We do NOT track, record, or profile your location in the background.
- **No Coordinate Sale**: Your location data is never sold, shared, or leased to third-party data brokers.
---
### 2. Information We Collect and Store Locally
- **Device Coordinates**: Latitude and longitude transmitted ephemerally to weather telemetry APIs.
- **Saved Cities & User Preferences**: Cities you add, temperature unit preferences (°C/°F), and theme settings are stored locally on your device via client-side storage (Room Database / LocalStorage). They are not uploaded to remote servers.
- **Crash & Diagnostic Logs**: Anonymous, aggregated system performance metrics to ensure stability across Android versions.
---
### 3. Third-Party Service Providers
To deliver meteorological insights and free app operations, NioSky utilizes trusted third-party services:
- **Open-Meteo**: Provides meteorological numerical models and forecast data. Only coordinates are passed; no personally identifiable information (PII) is transmitted.
- **RainViewer**: Supplies Doppler radar imagery and satellite cloud layers.
- **Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)**: Displays non-intrusive advertisements. Google AdMob may use standard advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID / GAID) in accordance with Google's Advertising Policies. You can reset or opt out of personalized ads at any time via Android Settings > Google > Ads.
---
### 4. Data Retention and Deletion
NioSky operates on a decentralized, privacy-first, local storage architecture:
- We do not host user accounts, passwords, or personal identity profiles on remote database servers.
- You can erase all locally cached weather data, search history, and saved locations directly inside the App at: **Settings > Legal & Compliance Hub > Data Deletion > Erase All Local Data**, or by clearing the App's data in Android System Settings.

### 5. Children's Privacy
NioSky does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
---
