About Ning Yu

Dr. Ning Yu works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing Sciences at SUNY Brockport, State University of New York Brockport. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Georgia State University. He joined SUNY Brockport in 2017. Before that, he worked as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina Upstate. He has published over 40 papers in prestigious journals and conferences, including SCI-indexed journal papers in ACM/IEEE Transactions, BMC, PLoS, Information Sciences, etc. His current research focuses on artificial intelligence, network and information security, big data and data analytics, deep learning, and cloud computing. He is an Editorial Board Member in several international journals.
Dr. Yu has taught many computer science and computer information systems courses at SUNY Brockport and his previous schools, including Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Operating System and Parallel Programming, Computer Networks, Computer Organization and Architecture, Cloud Computing, Computer and Network Security, Big Data Analysis, Circuit Analysis, etc.
Dr. Yu has been recognized with multiple awards in SUNY Brockport and other academic institutions, such as “Teacher of Year in School of Art & Science”, “Influential Professor 2022”, “Provost’s Post-Tenure Fellowship Award”, “Scholarly Incentive Award”, “Outstanding Graduate Student Award”, “PhD Dissertation Award”, etc. He is vice chair of the International Faculty Staff Association, SUNY Brockport.
Before Dr. Yu started his academic career, he had software development and system networking experiences for 10 years. He held several professional certificates from Cisco and Microsoft.
