Are you interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter?

The Fire Dept is made up of all volunteers who live in the area. These people dedicate time to train, learn and grow as a member of the Fire Dept while responding to emergencies within Nine Mile River and neighbouring communities.

All required training is provided at no cost to you and is accomplished through training programs at the department level on a weekly basis as well as a Basic Firefighting Program through the East Hants Fire Service. Additionally, members may also take part in courses offered by the Nova Scotia Firefighter School along with other outside agencies engaged to provide training.

Although you are not paid as a volunteer, there are a number of benefits!
