↑ Artist's Note_The Chair - Beauty and the beast
Size: 1000x1200x900mm
Crafted Materials: Birchwood / steel plate / walnut / Synthetic leather
Artist's Note
As if conjured from a spellbound palace, this work whispers of enchantment. Can you recall the moment Belle waltzed with the Beast beneath the golden chandeliers? It made me ponder—what sort of chair might cradle the Beast’s form in such a world?
↑ Artist's Note_A Rhythmical shelf
INSPIRATION
I drew inspiration for this design from the rhythm and elegant forms of stringed instruments, such as the violin and guitar.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES
The design of this bookshelf closely follows graceful, curved forms. The bookshelf consists of two main structural parts. The first part consists of five shelves. They are made of Bird’s Eye Maple, a wood commonly used for violins and guitars, with black edging along the borders for contrast. The second part includes three vertical pillars. These are made from laminated birch plywood, which effectively reveals its layered structure. The layered lines of the laminated birch plywood are reminiscent of the strings on a musical instrument.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION
Each pillar contains three grooves for inserting shelves—two near the top and one at the bottom. Users can easily assemble and disassemble the pillars and shelves. For this purpose, each shelf is equipped with wooden rails on the bottom, employing a drawer-like sliding mechanism. The wooden rails also ensure a strong and stable connection between the shelves and pillars.
DIMENSION / PACKAGE / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
Dimensions: 1200 mm (W) × 600 mm (D) × 1800 mm (H)
The bookshelf is designed for easy assembly and disassembly. Each shelf includes wooden rails on the bottom, functioning similarly to sliding drawer mechanisms. The connection between the shelves and pillars is also very strong, thanks to the integrated wooden rail system.
RESEARCH ABSTRACT
The bookshelf closely follows curved forms and consists of two primary parts: five shelves and three support pillars. The shelves are made from Bird’s Eye Maple, a wood commonly used for violins and guitars, and feature black edges for visual contrast. The pillars are constructed from laminated birch plywood, which effectively reveals its layers. The flowing lines of the plywood resemble the strings of a musical instrument.
CHALLENGE
I used a CNC machine to cut birch plywood treated with a UV-stable coating. B/BB-grade Russian birch plywood was CNC-machined to create a layered, landscape-like contour effect. CNC machining offers high precision, ensuring that all panels are identical—an advantage that saves both time and cost, especially when producing multiple components or executing intricate details.

The bench - A Voyage

Birchplywood
This object is a bench for public use. I combined the shape of a ferry with the shape of a chair. The seat section is curvy and is meant to signify a flowing stream, thus having a calming effect on viewers. The body of the bench consists of a lot of blocks which are made up of birch plywood. This was in order to portray brush strokes such as the Vincent Van Gogh's work.

This is the display cupboard.Emotional pattern(like Grotesque things) was added to one of the column. This simplification was indicated in geometrical blocks. And both sides seem that they were symmetrical, but they're not absolutely symmetrical. I could express grotesqueness by arraying them reciprocally in three dimensions.

Cherry, acrylic panel, light
Multiple pyramid forms come together to create a larger pyramid-shaped light fixture. Light seeps through the edges of each square-based pyramid, and it also softly glows through the natural cherry wood veneer, revealing the wood’s unique and varied grain patterns.

Various large and small U-shaped forms come together to create one grand U-shape. Though each individual module appears unbalanced and unstable, they collectively form a composition that regains harmony and stability.
Such is the nature of knowledge in the world. The open-ended U-shape symbolizes a vessel for receiving knowledge. When gathered and recombined, these pieces of knowledge reveal a greater truth, embodying the cyclical nature of understanding.

Bold, voluminous curves come together to form another illuminated curve, creating a cohesive light fixture.
The repetition of the curves evokes the image of the Olympic torch, with each curve set at a different height to ensure a balanced visual experience when viewed from the front. Additionally, the weight and presence of red oak provide a sense of grounding, maintaining balance so that the curves of the light do not appear too light or insubstantial.
