I am working with Rob Campbell, Caroline Martin, and James Gilchrist to create an animated version of their comics.
First project - Rheology of Cats!
This comic was designed to communicate rheology, the study of how matter flows, to the general public. The original artists captured the flowy nature of how cats move and conform to their environments the way fluids do. Animating this comic allows me to create flowy animations that express the original ideas in a more eye-catching manner for social media.
What is Rheology?
Rheologists study how stuff flows. The difference between honey an jello seems obvious. A lot of consumer products and foodstuffs sits between simply acting like a liquid or a solid. Shampoos can be thicker, or more viscous, when they flow slowly and then spread more easily when sheared faster. Cake icing and toothpaste can seem like a solid until you push on it and it flows.
To be released Fall 2026! Thanks to the Society of Rheology Education Committee and Professor Gilchrist for guidance on this project.
Engaging visitors and sharing science stories throughout the museum. Trained to interact with young learners in a hands-on educational setting, facilitate drop-in programming, and help keep the space running smoothly.
