He is associated with NIMHANS for the past four decades.
He is Professor of Psychiatric Social Work and Head, Centre for Disaster Management.
He was former Registrar, NIMHANS, an Institute of National Importance.

Dr. Kasi Sekar has received many awards:
Sinha Award for the best research in the field of social work.
Best Humanitarian Services for the psychosocial care for the Kashmir Earthquake survivors by the Government of India and Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Independence Day Award by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
WAPR-IC 2016 award for Excellence in Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
Dr. Rajeshwar Prassad Award for the Social Policy, Social Action in 2017.
NAPSWI Lifetime Achievement Award 2019.
Dr. Kasi Sekar has worked in most of the major disasters in India since the last three and half decades
He is a core group member of the National Disaster Management Authority on the National Guidelines on Psychosocial Support and Mental Health Services in Disaster Management.
He was a Member of the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority.
He is a member of the Karnataka State Disaster Management Advisory Committee.
He is the Secretary for the National Task Force on Psychosocial Support and Mental Health Services for COVID 19 of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 2020.
Dr. Kasi Sekar
Has more than 250 publications both in International and Indian journals.
He has carried out nearly fifty projects with many INGOs as well as WHO Geneva and India on psychosocial support for survivors of disaster.
He has widely travelled to many countries in Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia and other countries including Japan in connection with International Disaster Humanitarian Responses.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Manikappa is a mental health professional with M.Phil and Ph.D. in Psychiatric Social Work from Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi, and National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bengaluru respectively. He is involved in clinical, academic, research, and capacity building activities in the field of disaster psychosocial support and mental health.
He has more than a decade experience of working with survivors of many disasters including:

Jammu and Kashmir earthquake
Karnataka floods
Uttrakhand floods
Malgaon landslides

He was invited by Terres de Homes to Jakarta, Indonesia for training Master Trainers from the South Asian region on Tsunami psychosocial support.
He has been coordinating National Psychosocial Support Helpline for Disaster Survivors since its inception in March 2022. The helpline has received more than 6 lacks of calls from across the county so far.
He is a visiting faculty to the Administrative Training Institute, Mysuru, Karnataka. I also work with the Disaster Management Cell, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Disaster Response Force, the National Institute of Disaster Management, and various NGOs in the field of disaster management.
He has also worked extensively with children in Difficult Circumstances across the country, using curative, preventive, and promotive psychosocial approaches.

He is currently working as a research officer in the project titled "Health Sector Disaster Preparedness and Management" funded by MoHFW, GoI. Also, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Psychosocial Support in Disaster Management at the Department of Psychosocial Support in Disaster Management (DPSSDM), National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru.
He is actively involved in the National Psychosocial Support Helpline services for disaster survivors including children, the elderly, women, and healthcare professionals. He has completed his M.Phil. Course in Psychiatric Social Work and Fellowship in Psychosocial Support in Disaster Management at NIMHANS. He has presented research papers at various state, national, and international conferences. He has more than three years of experience in the field of mental health and his area of interest is helping disaster survivors with Psychosocial Interventions
