Nimbus is designed to collect as little information as possible. We do not operate user accounts, advertising systems, analytics, tracking, or a backend service that stores your personal information.
Nimbus may access or transmit limited information when necessary to provide features you request.
Location. With your permission, Nimbus may use your approximate location to provide local weather, radar, alerts, tides, and related information. Nimbus does not request precise location. You can deny or revoke location access through your device settings.
Places and routes. If you search for or save a place, such as Home or Work, information you enter may be sent to a mapping or geocoding provider to locate that place. Coordinates may also be sent to a routing provider when calculating travel or commute information.
Nimbus does not receive or store this information on servers operated by us.
Nimbus communicates directly with third-party services when necessary to provide app functionality. Depending on your device and the features you use, these may include:
iOS: Apple WeatherKit and Apple MapKit
Android: Open-Meteo, the U.S. National Weather Service, OpenStreetMap, Photon (Komoot), and OSRM
Both platforms: NOAA Tides and Currents and RainViewer
Nimbus may also support optional services such as Rainbow Weather and Tomorrow.io. These features require you to provide your own API key where applicable.
Information transmitted to a third-party service is subject to that provider’s privacy policy and terms. Nimbus does not control how independent third-party services process information they receive.
Nimbus stores app settings and information needed for its features locally on your device. This may include saved places, commute settings, cached weather or radar information, and API keys.
Where supported, sensitive credentials such as API keys are stored using operating-system protected storage.
Nimbus does not maintain a server-side copy of this information.
You can remove locally stored information through Nimbus where that option is available or by deleting the app, subject to your device and operating system’s normal data-management behavior.
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the applicable app store. Nimbus does not directly process or store your payment card information.
Nimbus does not use advertising, advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking, or analytics to profile your use of the app.
We do not sell personal information collected by Nimbus.
Nimbus is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through servers operated by us.
You control permissions such as location access through your device settings. Optional information, including saved places and third-party API keys, can be removed from Nimbus or by deleting the app.
Because Nimbus does not provide user accounts or maintain a backend database of Nimbus user information, we generally do not have server-side personal information associated with you to access, correct, or delete.
