Discover our journey with the ancient dye Indigo and be a part of it as we bring it back from the depths of time for tomorrow
We Believe Change comes from each one of us
on our mission to build a better tomorrow we hope that we can bring little changes today
Connecting sustainable farming to slow fashion and beyond
Shift to sustainable farming
moving away from resource intensive farming we aim to move towards a future of multi-cropping sustainable and integrated farming systems adapting to climate change
Supporting Artisans
we need our traditional artisans to show us the way to a sustainable future with their mastery in textiles, crafts, toy-making, pottery, all unique and close to nature and carefully handcrafted
Building communities
like everything is connected to everything else, so is rural and urban, farming and healthy lifestyle, local and global, education and healthcare, we care, so we build communities
We start with Bengal Indigo
Bengal in undivided India had a unique history with Indigo, where it has always belonged, enriching the fertile soils with nitrogen as it was planted in rotation with cereals. Then came the tainted colonial history of oppression that has left a scar in the farmer's mind and often a lot of unfounded misconceptions. We aim to bring back "Indigo" that literally means "from India" back to where it all began.. But this time as a crop for the future to fight back climate change and chemical intensive farming.
Artisans weave magicÂ
Natural dye Indigo is the colour that has fascinated people across ages and geographies, across classes and civilizations. It is the colour of our Blue planet, the Blue Gods, the wisdom of ancient civilizations from Saraswati-Indus valley to Egypt and the Mayans. It is the colour of luxury and aristocracy yet it stands for the Blue-collar workers and the blue jeans of the cowboys.. to what it represents today.. a symbol of freedom
