We were required to create our concept of literature after being accepted into the English Department. We are once again requested to define literature and provide a metaphor after finishing two years of M.A. to determine whether our percpective on literature has improved or changed. What is Literature after M.A.
Literature is a multi-layered and dynamic framework of words and ideas that may carry us to new worlds, challenge our perceptions, and impact our thoughts and emotions. Literature, like the Matrix, can be thrilling and difficult, prompting us to examine our assumptions and confront our prejudices. Literature is a transforming force that helps us to explore new regions of possibility and broaden our worldview.
I used to believe that literature only depicted idealised circumstances, allowing an escape to the fictional worlds we long for. Yet, my attitude has subsequently altered as I've realised that literature can also illuminate the complexities and hardships of reality. As a result, it can be argued that literature represents truth more accurately by showing not only the positive parts of life but also the more difficult and challenging components that are inherent in the human experience.
