Guideline for International Students Enrolled in Graduate Programs
Dongguk University
Dongguk University was established in 1906 and is situated on a hill near Namsan (Seoul's symbolic mountain) of central Seoul. Dongguk University was ranked 9th in JoongAng Ilbo's Korean university rankings in 2021 and has international cooperations with nearly 160 universities of 40 nations, including Duke University, UCLA, University of Manchester, and University of Oslo.
Program Objective
The SRD Scholarship Program is designed to provide higher education in Dongguk university for international students, with the aim of promoting education in Engineering & Natural Science College
Application Requirements
- Applicants who apply for the Master’s & Ph.D. Integrated program must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor’s degree of university.
- Applicants who apply for the Doctoral program must hold a Master’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree of university.
- Applicants must have received their undergraduate education outside Korea and hold a bachelor's degree
- GPA of 70 or higher (on a 100 point scale) or place in the top 40% in course work required for program. Applicants who achieve a GPA less than 70 in their last educational shall be disqualified for scholarship
- Applicants who have Korean proficiency or English proficiency may be given preference.
Scholarship
- Ph.D Program : 100% Tuition fee
- Master’s & Ph.D. Integrated : 100% Tuition fee
- Master's Program : 100% Tuition fee
Selection Criterion
- All documents including transcript, self-introduction, study plan, certificates of language proficiency (Korean and English), recommendations, published papers and awards, etc., will be evaluated.
- Applicants should be recommended from either professor of their affiliated institution or Dongguk University’s professor.
* If an applicant does not submit recommendation letters, he/she will be disqualified from applying to this program.
Obligation
- All scholars must publish 2 or more papers in SCI(E)-level journals as a lead author before graduation.
* The number of papers could be different depending on students’ advisor or department
- Additional grant available when participate in faculty research (Additional rewards based on the achievement)
- All scholars should get TOPIK level 3 or higher before graduation
- All scholars must achieve over 3.5 of GPA in each semester.
