Solving problems, improving systems, empowering people
Welcome! I’m Nikki, an L&D Strategist, communication expert, and lifelong learner focused on driving clarity, connection, and capability. I design impactful learning and communication strategies rooted in creative thinking, strong relationships, and deep expertise in adult learning.
With a background that spans finance, communications, and learning & development, I bring a unique blend of analytical, technical, and creative skills to every project. I’m energized by helping others grow and designing solutions that are both learner-centered and results-driven.
This portfolio showcases some of my work in instructional design, eLearning development, program management, video production, and other communications. If you're looking for someone who brings fresh energy, a learner-focused mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping people succeed, let's connect!
To improve administrative training at the University of Denver, I led a cross-functional initiative to develop a scalable e-learning template for ERP and system-related courses. I conducted a cost-benefit analysis of learning tools, facilitated demos, and successfully secured funding to adopt Articulate as our primary development platform, establishing a reusable framework for future training programs.
Grounding our approach in learner data, I conducted a mixed-methods study for my master’s program that surveyed over 90 DU administrators. The results revealed key gaps in engagement and retention, leading me to advocate for a blended learning model that incorporated eLearning to better meet employee needs.

To bring this strategy to life, I learned Articulate Storyline and developed a fully interactive prototype on iBanner Basics. This course demonstrates how targeted, self-paced learning can be used to enhance comprehension and reduce the need for repetitive live sessions.

Developed a branded library of 50+ microlearning video tutorials, organized by system, user role, and task. Hosted on the UFS training page, the videos provide quick, accessible answers, improve navigation to relevant knowledge base articles, and reduce support desk inquiries.
Evaluated Digication, Cornerstone, and Drupal as potential delivery platforms, prioritizing accessibility, design, and user experience. (Summary on Page 2).
As part of my role at DU, I manage the UFS website and led the addition of a dedicated Training tab, making it easier for employees to access key resources, including the QuickTips video library.
DU SPIT Lab Training – COVID Response
During the pandemic, I designed and launched required training for 150+ student volunteers supporting DU’s COVID SPIT Lab. I managed implementation, tracked completion for scheduling, and created lab signage and a branded logo. Trained volunteers helped process 450,000+ saliva tests, supporting campus safety and public health.

Used PowerPoint to design this logo, featured on campus signage and prominently displayed outside the main testing pod.
Tracked and reported volunteer training data to verify eligibility and ensure volunteer readiness.
Presentations & Video Production
Travel & Expense Supervisor Training

eProcurement Implementation
Introduced DU’s new eProcurement system to the Business Officer community as part of the Procure-to-Pay platform. Created and delivered a presentation with Q&A to build awareness, encourage adoption and support a smooth transition.

How I Got Here
My passion for learning began in a small town in Illinois, where, as a child, I spent hours creating lessons, organizing assignments, and grading them with stickers, markers, and highlighters. Even at a young age, I found joy in making information clear, engaging, and fun to interact with—a passion that would eventually shape my career.
Early on, I pursued a path in financial analysis and budgeting, where I developed a strong foundation in problem-solving and process improvement. I was regularly brought into high-impact projects and system implementations, and it was during those initiatives that I rediscovered what energized me most: helping others navigate change with clarity and confidence.
That realization led me to earn a Master’s degree in Communications Management with a focus on Learning & Development. Today, as Manager of Training & Communications, I blend strategy, design, and storytelling to build effective learning experiences and impactful communication that drive both employee success and organizational outcomes.
Beyond the Office
When I’m not designing training or developing communications, you’ll likely find me playing tennis, skiing, paddleboarding, walking my dogs, or out on the golf course. I recharge by staying active, and I still get a bit too excited about fresh office supplies and colorful highlighters!
