What does it mean to be NEURODIVERGENT?
🔼
To be neurodivergent means to have a brain that functions differently than the "neurotypical" or "standard/traditional" brain. People with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, OCD are considered neurodivergent. As you can see on the diagram with the neurodivergent umbrella, there are many disorders and conditions that would often classify someone as being neurodivergent.
People often confuse NEURODIVERSITY and NEURODIVERGENCE. We all live in a neurodiverse society of people who think in many different ways. People who think in the neurotypical way are a part of neurodiversity.
