Welcome
I am Dr. Nikhil Bharat, currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the AMADe Lab, Department of Physics, University of Girona, Spain, under the supervision of Prof. Josep Costa. My work is part of the project “Innovative Cryogenic Testing Technologies for the New Generation of Hydrogen-Powered Aircraft” (Project No. ACE120/24/000078). This role allows me to contribute to pioneering research in sustainable aviation technologies, with a focus on advancing experimental methods for hydrogen-powered aircraft systems.
Previously, I served as an Assistant Professor at the Center for Additive Manufacturing, Chennai Institute of Technology, Chennai, India. My academic journey in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Technology has nurtured a strong passion for research and innovation in material science and advanced manufacturing processes.
My expertise lies in developing advanced metal matrix composites through fabrication techniques such as laser-assisted machining and gel casting, with particular emphasis on optimizing nanocomposite properties for enhanced mechanical strength, wear resistance, and corrosion performance. By employing advanced characterization tools such as EBSD, TEM, and FESEM, I explore microstructural behaviors that improve material performance for aerospace and industrial applications.
In addition, my research extends to sustainable biocomposites developed via fused deposition modeling (FDM) and extrusion-based techniques. By integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning, I optimize fabrication processes and mechanical properties while ensuring eco-friendly outcomes aligned with global sustainability goals.
Beyond materials fabrication, I apply AI, machine learning, and metaheuristic optimization to refine machining processes and system parameters, improving manufacturability and operational efficiency. With over 30 research publications in high-impact journals and a granted patent in nanocomposite manufacturing, my work bridges academic research and industrial applications.
I remain dedicated to advancing manufacturing processes and experimental testing methods, promoting sustainable, high-performance solutions for engineering and aerospace challenges. I welcome collaborations and discussions that push the frontiers of mechanical engineering, material science, and sustainable technologies.
