Brief Bio

Hi, I'm Nikita Frolov, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory of Dynamics in Biological Systems (DiBS Lab) at KU Leuven.

As a physicist by training, I graduated from the Faculty of Nonlinear Processes of Saratov State University in 2012 and defended my Ph.D. in 2015. My thesis focused on complex dynamics and synchronization in active nonlinear media, specifically high-current beams and ion-less plasma. However, I have always been interested in the dynamics of living systems.

After my Ph.D. I've shifted my research interests to complex networks and their application in neuroscience. Since 2016, I have worked on unifying nonlinear dynamics, complex networks, and machine learning methods to reveal integrative brain dynamics from M/EEG data at Saratov State Technical University and then at Innopolis University. I was especially interested in visual perception and sensorimotor integration in the human brain and also the epileptic activity of rodents.

In 2022, I reloaded my academic career, and KU Leuven's DiBS Lab provided me with a perfect opportunity. Here, I will apply my accumulated expertise in the dynamics of complex systems and data analysis to explore the processes behind the self-organization of cytoskeleton networks and regulation of the cell cycle.
