This presentation explores the ongoing challenge of unreliable electricity supply in Ghana and across Africa. Despite high electrification rates, many communities still experience frequent outages that disrupt education, business productivity, and daily life.

Through a mixed-method survey conducted, the study examines how students, households, and small businesses are affected and how many are turning to solar and inverter systems as practical alternatives. The findings highlight key causes of power instability, including aging infrastructure, weak governance, fuel shortages, and high system losses.

A PESTLE analysis further connects the political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental factors shaping the energy sector. Overall, the presentation emphasizes the need for stronger policies, modernized infrastructure, and increased adoption of renewable energy to build a more reliable and sustainable power future for Africa.

This is a two-phase energy solution designed to support communities affected by frequent power outages. The first phase introduces the BrightCharge Mini, a portable rechargeable lamp with USB charging that provides instant backup power for students, households, and small businesses.

The second phase expands into a community solar microgrid that delivers stable, affordable, renewable electricity through prepaid access. This long term system supports homes, shops, schools, and clinics with consistent power.

Together, these solutions create a practical path from quick relief to sustainable community electrification.
