This project documents and promotes four proposed Cherokee ligatures for future Unicode encoding. These ligatures represent common syllable pairs used in Cherokee and are designed to simplify reading, preserve linguistic rhythm, and honor written traditions.
Proposed Ligatures:
U+E0E0 (ᏣᎳ) – Tsala
U+E0E1 (ᎠᎾ) – Ana
U+E0E2 (ᎡᎯ) – Ehi
U+E0E3 (ᏫᏍ) – Wis
Our goal is to provide clear linguistic, visual, and community-based evidence to support future encoding of these ligatures in the official Unicode Standard.
