After last years success, we are happy to invite you to NGT painting competition 2026
We encourage everyone who wants to exhibit their models to participate in the competition. This is a low threshold competition so all miniatures are welcome and no miniature is too bad
for 2026 we want to separate the competition into 2 parts, 1 determined by the public and 1 determined by a panel of judges
The winners of the people's choice awards will be determined by votes cast by the spectators and attendees. Everyone gets to cast 3 votes for their 3 favourite entries, from across all categories.
The three winners of the People's Choice will be announced during the award ceremony after the tournaments end.
This category will be judged by a panel of experienced painters. The competition will follow what is referred to as a open style competition. Which means that the judges are free to award more than one gold-silver-bronze within each category. The benefit of this award system is that the judges get to give credit to more entries instead of three being recognized as the best.
All winners will receive a token representing the valour of their award. This will not be announced at the award ceremony due to time restraints, they will be placed next to your entries when you pick them up.
A single minature that can range in size from tiny upward to the size of a demon prince. It is not restricted by a gaming sized base, but more on the precieved look of a minature. Mounted models fit this category, but keep in mind it is single miniature. For instance, a mounted knight fits, a mangler squig with 2-3 riders would belong in the monster category.
Anything that is bigger than the single miniature category fits here, as long as it is organic and big.
Vehicle inclued all kinds of games system and time peroids, and scale. It can be anything from a WWII tank, to a Warhammer Steam tank or a futuristic robot.
Unit or warband consisitng of 3 to 10 models. No game restrictions in terms of what could be considered a unit. If you have 3 models that fits togheter they are elligable for this category. It is optional if you want to enter the models on their supplied gaming bases or if you want to make a more scenic display base
Diorama can be anything from a small vignet or scene to a large battle. Any scale, game system or historical diorama fits this category
This is the category for models of a larger scale. Typically busts, 54mm or larger or scratchnbuilt models that does not fit the other categories
At NGT we root for the next generation of painters. We will therefore recognize the 3 best entries painted by participants who are 16 years or younger with their own price.
The competition is a miniature agnostic competition, meaning that anything that is painted by you and fits into one of the categories can be entered. We do however enforce the following guidelines:
No miniatures depicting derogatory symbols or attitudes towards specific groups of people or minorities or provocative political statements
Please Steffen, do not bring the Troll birth to yet another painting competition, we've seen it.
The judges reserve themselves the right to disqualify a model if it clearly is making people uncomfortable or could be harmful for the competition and NGTs reputation. If you are uncertain about a miniature, do not hesitate to make contact with Odin or Jonny at the Wartrond Discord.
Participants/visitors are given ballots where they vote for the winners for the various categories.
We would prefer that participants register online by 01.05.2026, but we do accept registration at the venue from 09:00-16:00 on Saturday.
All entries must be handed in on either Friday 1st between 1800-2000 or at Saturday 2nd from 0900-1600s
