Women in Mathematics

I am very passionate about the promotion of women in mathematics and the representation of minorities in science. As such, I coorganized the Women in Southern California Research Symposium (WimSoCal) at USC in Spring 2017.
I also served as treasurer for the AWM Chapter at USC (Charlotte's Web) during the 2015-2017 school year and will be serving as president this upcoming year. During this time, I helped initiate a series of graduate student seminars for the female graduate students in our department, providing them with a space where they might feel more comfortable and safe to practice giving talks for the first time. I have also organized many cultural events and outings to encourage collaboration and integration between the female faculty and graduate students. Some of these events have included trips to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the LA Opera, and A Noise Within Theater.

Graduate Student Affairs

I am also very interested in the integration of all graduate students in the department and the representation of graduate student rights.
I have been a senator for the Graduate Student Government at USC for the last three years as well as served as President and Vice-President for the Mathematics Graduate Student Association (MGSA) for the previous four years. During this time I have organized and MC'd the yearly departmental talent show, weekly free food study nights, movie nights, post qual departmental BBQ, and many more social events. More importantly, however, I have served as a liason between the graduate student body and the faculty, often meeting with both sides to bring about positive change and improvement in the academic and emotional experience of the mathematics graduate students at USC.
I was also the organizer of the Student Algebra Seminar during 2015-2017.

Undergraduate Student Affairs

This summer (2017) I was part of the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) undergraduate mentoring program, during which I met with undergraduate Ruoxi Pan bimonthly to discuss her interest in pursuing research and academia.
For the last three years I have also served on the yearly panel held by the undergraduate Math Club at USC aimed at introducing undergraduates to the application process for graduate school and what mathematics research consists of.
For the last two years I have also helped coorganize the annual Math Fest at USC aimed at the promotion of mathematics for USC undergraduates and high-schoolers in the neighboring area.
