My primary area of research is entrepreneurial finance. My research investigates the financing of young and small firms with a focus on firms owned by Indigenous Peoples and members of underrepresented groups. My projects generally employ confidential survey data and administrative data from Statistics Canada.
I currently teach Venture Capital and the Finance of Innovation (MSc) and Stratégies financières des PMEs (BBA) at HEC Montréal.
My ancestry traces back to European settlers who journeyed to this continent in 1718. I acknowledge the advantages I’ve gained from historical colonial actions, including various forms of genocide—physical, knowledge-based, spiritual, and cultural. In light of this, I am committed to supporting Indigenous students, peers, and organizations, and I make it a point to integrate Indigenous viewpoints into my research and teaching.
