Nico Bennett is an eighteen year old freshman student currently enrolled at the University of Southern California in the fall pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. He is an actor/singer/dancer from the San Francisco Bay Area and has been an avid theater enjoyer and performer his whole life. On stage he has performond as Harry Houdini in Ragtime at Interlochen Arts Academy as well as several shows at his high school. These include Ren McCormack in Footloose, Nick Bottom in Something Rotten (Jimmy Awrd Nomination) , Chad Rubik in Disaster!, and Cinderella's Prince in Into the Woods. He also recently made his assistant directing debut in his school’s fall musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee while also portraying VP Douglas Panch.
Nico’s training includes many years of dance including 5 years of ballet at Stapleton School of the Performing Arts, 3 years of tap classes at Dance Arts Center, and one year of Musical Theatre Jazz at the Big Open Space Dance Studio. Nico is also a trained vocalist training such as 6 years of private voice lessons as a part of Songbird Studios as well upwards of 5 years with private vocal coaches such as Lee Strawn and Marcus Crawford Guy. Additionally, he is a trained actor taking 4 years of drama under Cythia Skelton at his high school as well as private coaching from Julian Abelskamp and Calvin Lee Smith. Nico is continuing to train all three of these facets daily at USC. Throughout his childhood he participated in 8 years of choir over middle school and high school.
At his school, Nico was the president of both the Drama Club and Choir. In BHS concert choir and his school's Vocal Jazz ensemble he has had many unique opportunities like being a soloist for the Disneyland Performance Tour, singing the national anthem at a Golden State Warriors game, as well as being a soloist opening for the bands Loverboy and Foreigner.
Nico has experience running light boards, spotlights, and other technical theater aspects as well. He has memorized every countries flag (200+) and is a proud member of the International Thespian Society, troop #4872.
