I am a long-distance runner and a proud member of my varsity team, consistently ranking among the top runners. My journey wasn’t always easy—freshman year, I quit the team, unsure if I could meet the challenge. But during that time, I discovered a true love for running, pushing myself on my own to take on something that many shy away from. Through those solitary miles, I learned the value of dedication, perseverance, and hard work, lessons that would shape not just my running but my character. When I returned sophomore year, I brought that determination with me, improving with every practice and race. Running has taught me that growth comes from pushing past doubt and embracing the struggle, and every step forward reminds me that hard work and commitment can turn challenges into achievements.
My love for nature began early, exploring the trails of Griffith Park with my dad, where I grew up hiking and discovering the beauty of the outdoors. In fifth grade, that passion led me to participate in a project called Heroes Around Us, where students could use a variety of artistic methods to highlight someone they admired. I chose to interview wildlife biologist Jeff Sikich and explore the challenges facing mountain lions, particularly the famous Hollywood Hills lion, P-22, and the ongoing problem of inbreeding. My project earned first place in the film category, but it was just the beginning. I stayed in touch with Jeff, set up my own trail cameras in Griffith Park, and to my surprise, captured images of P-22—fulfilling a dream and contributing to his research. My dedication and curiosity eventually led to an even greater opportunity: helping with the construction of the Annenberg Wildlife Crossing in Agoura Hills, bridging my love of nature with hands-on conservation work.
My journey with music began when I was a child, sitting on my grandpa’s lap as he played classical piano for me. Those early moments sparked a lifelong passion that has grown into a deep dedication to the instrument. Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours practicing and exploring a wide range of genres—from the elegance of classical to the lively rhythms of ragtime, the freedom of jazz, and beyond. Music has taught me discipline, patience, and creativity, as I’ve worked not only to play but also to study and understand it. Learning to read and write music has shown me that it is its own language—complex, expressive, and requiring both skill and persistence to master. For me, the piano is more than an instrument; it is a lifelong pursuit that continues to challenge and inspire me.
