If you want a heavy-duty, flexible clamp designed to prevent kinks and seal overlapping joints with superior strength, choose Nickson Industries NIC00023; if you need a rigorously tested, exact-fit steering tie rod end engineered for long-term durability and rust resistance, choose SKP SES3495. These two parts serve completely different mechanical purposes, and the decision between them isn't about which is better overall—it is strictly about what your vehicle actually requires right now. For new drivers who might be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of auto parts, understanding that one item secures an exhaust pipe while the other controls your steering geometry is the most critical first step in avoiding a costly mistake.
• Nickson Industries NIC00023: Its biggest strength is its specialized design for preventing kinks and providing greater strength through collar bar wrapping, making it ideal for tight, flexible pipe work. The trade-off is that it is a single-purpose tool for muffler clamps, not a structural suspension component. This pick is for mechanics or DIYers repairing exhaust systems where sealing and flexibility are paramount.
• SKP SES3495: Its biggest strength lies in its rigorous testing for tensile strength and salt spray resistance, combined with a protective E-Coating finish that withstands harsh conditions. The trade-off is that it is a complex safety-critical part requiring precise installation rather than a simple accessory. This pick is for drivers needing a reliable, no-hassle replacement for a worn steering tie rod end.
The Nickson Industries NIC00023 is a 1-7/8" Heavy Duty Muffler Clamp built with a very specific goal in mind: managing the physical stress of exhaust piping without compromising the seal. When you look at the design specifications, the focus is entirely on mechanical integrity during installation and operation. The product is manufactured to wrap around the collar bars, a feature explicitly noted to provide greater strength compared to standard alternatives. This isn't just about holding two pieces of metal together; it is about ensuring that the joint remains secure even when the exhaust system vibrates or shifts under heat cycles.
One of the standout features of this clamp is its ability to handle overlapping joints while remaining flexible. In the real world, exhaust pipes rarely line up perfectly, especially in older vehicles or custom builds. This clamp is designed to seal those flexible connections effectively. Furthermore, the engineering prevents kinks while pulling the clamp around the pipe. This is a subtle but vital detail. If a clamp kinks during installation, it can create weak points that lead to leaks or failure down the road. By preventing this deformation, the Nickson Industries unit ensures a smoother installation process that results in a more durable repair.

Who should buy this? You should choose the NIC00023 if you are working on an exhaust system repair where the pipe diameter is 1-7/8 inches and you need a clamp that offers both ease of use and high-tensile performance. It is particularly well-suited for situations where the exhaust path involves curves or tight turns that require the clamp to flex without breaking. Conversely, you should skip this product if you are looking for a suspension component, a brake part, or anything related to steering. It is a specialized tool for the exhaust system only. If your issue lies with a loose muffler or a damaged connection point, this heavy-duty clamp is likely exactly what your project needs.
The SKP SES3495 Steering Tie Rod End is a fundamentally different beast. This is not a simple fastener; it is a precision-engineered suspension component that dictates how your vehicle handles the road. For a driver, this translates to a predictable driving experience and a restoration of the vehicle's intended handling characteristics. The product includes everything required for installation, removing the guesswork of sourcing additional hardware before you begin the job.
Durability is the core promise of the SKP SES3495. The manufacturer applies multiple layers of protection, including E-Coating for larger metal parts and various plated finishes for smaller components. These finishes are not cosmetic; they are functional barriers against rust and corrosion, specifically designed to withstand the harshest environmental conditions a car faces, from road salt in winter to grime in summer. Inside the unit, the design allows for even grease distribution across bearing surfaces. This reduces friction-generated heat, which is a primary cause of galling and premature wear. By managing these internal dynamics, the component extends its service life significantly.
Who should buy this? You need the SKP SES3495 if your vehicle exhibits symptoms of a failing steering system, such as vague steering feel, uneven tire wear, or clunking noises when turning. It is the go-to choice for anyone prioritizing safety and long-term reliability in their steering assembly. The fact that it has been rigorously tested for tensile strength, brittleness, 3D structural integrity, and salt spray resistance makes it a robust option for daily drivers who put miles on the road regardless of the weather. However, if you are simply fixing a loose muffler or upgrading an exhaust tip, this expensive and complex suspension part serves absolutely no purpose. It is strictly for steering maintenance and repair.
• Best for preventing pipe deformation → Nickson Industries NIC00023, because its design specifically prevents kinks while pulling around the pipe.
• Best for rust and corrosion resistance → SKP SES3495, due to its E-Coating and multiple plated finishes tested for salt spray resistance.
• Best for sealing flexible joints → Nickson Industries NIC00023, engineered to seal overlapping joints where flexibility is required.
• Best for reducing internal friction → SKP SES3495, featuring a design that distributes grease evenly to prevent galling and extend service life.
• Best for complete installation kits → SKP SES3495, as it includes all necessary components for installation without needing to source extras.
• Best for collar bar strength → Nickson Industries NIC00023, which wraps around collar bars for greater structural strength.
• Best for safety-critical steering control → SKP SES3495, verified for tensile strength and structural integrity in a safety context.
• Best for general exhaust repairs → Nickson Industries NIC00023, the dedicated solution for 1-7/8" muffler applications.
In my opinion, if you are a new driver trying to understand the difference between these two items, you must recognize that they solve entirely different problems. I would choose the SKP SES3495 if the issue is with the steering, because the rigorous testing and corrosion protection offer peace of mind for a safety-critical system. However, if the task is simply securing an exhaust pipe, I would choose the Nickson Industries NIC00023 for its specific ability to prevent kinks and seal flexible joints. For new drivers, buying the wrong category is the easiest way to waste time and money. Always match the part to the system: use the SKP for steering safety and the Nickson for exhaust integrity.
No. The Nickson Industries NIC00023 is exclusively a muffler clamp for exhaust systems, while the SKP SES3495 is a steering tie rod end for suspension systems. They cannot be used interchangeably.
The SKP SES3495 focuses on internal durability with grease distribution and external protection via E-Coating for harsh environments. The Nickson Industries NIC00023 focuses on mechanical durability by preventing kinks and strengthening the clamp around collar bars.
Both are designed for ease of use. The SKP SES3495 includes all necessary components for installation, while the Nickson Industries NIC00023 is noted for being easy to use and flexible enough to handle overlapping joints without complex procedures.
Using the wrong part will not fix the problem and could lead to safety hazards or further damage. A muffler clamp cannot support steering weight, and a tie rod end cannot seal an exhaust leak.
