INTRODUCTION
The Screen Vi program captures video form the screen and audio from the default audio capture device (microphone). This program offers a compact solution, suitable especially for non experienced users, without need from them to adjust any values for quality or bit-rate.
The user at the free trial period must ensures that the maximum capture period, in the settings section, 1 hour works properly in the local system.
Also must examine, in this period, the output video - audio quality.
The audio capture doesn't work in a specific hardware (very rare cases).
The program maintains the output folders and files without need intervention from the user.
Capture from default audio device. (Enabled)
Disabled for specific hardware (rare cases). This may be corrected in future releases.
Render a video-audio file after capture ends. (Enabled)
When the capture is completed the program creates a video-audio file named *All.mp4. This causes increase the duration of the entire process. If this is not desirable disable this feature. With the new function added to the program (described bellow) you can return at any time later to render a video-audio file.
Start capture with click on an another window. (Disabled)
Stop capture when program returns to foreground. (Disabled)
Maximum Capturing Duration ~= 1 hour.
After that the program stops the capture. This is the program's MCD and doesn't mean that is valid for every hardware. In case that the output video file is corrupted the user must adjust this setting value.
If the user wants for a specific duration capturing, he must provide the appropriate values. The program stops the capture by exceeding the MCD or by the mechanisms explained bellow.
Select the window or screen by clicking the [Select Window OR Screen] button.
After the selection, the capture folder name text field informs the user for the name of the folder that the capture's files are saved. The user can change this name by entering a new one.
The capture Starts:
a) By clicking [Start Capture].
b) If [Start capture with click on another window] is enabled by clicking on another window or on another window's icon in task bar. In capturing the screen case and we want the program's GUI not visible we must consider sizing the program's window and hiding behind other windows. This is, because of the security measures, the audio capture is disabled when the program it is on minimized state. In this scenario, the audio file filed with blank data, the video capture is not affected and the capture procedure is going on.
The capture Stops:
a) By clicking [Stop Capture].
b) If [Stop capture when program returns to foreground] is enabled the capture stops when clicked the program's icon in the taskbar or any way the program's window gets focus.
c) By exceeding the maximum capturing duration that it is provided in the settings section.
After the capture completed, the program need some time to render the files. An icon and a text field informs the user for the task status.
In the project's folder.
There are saved the following files:
a) The .MP4 video capture.
b) If the audio capture is enabled a .WAV file with the audio.
c) If the audio capture is enabled a video - audio .MP4 file.
If the [Capture from default audio device] is enabled the program creates one .mp4 file and one .wav and if the [ Render a video-audio file after capture ends ] is enabled renders a *All.mp4 with video and audio. This process can be done later with this feature or you can render any other couple of video audio files. For this:
Click the [render] button on the bottom menu and after the appearance of this section do one of the following.
a) Click to browse for one .wav or .mp4 file. After the selection, the program renders a *All.mp4 from the selected and the other one media file which is in the same folder and has the same name.
b) Drop a folder or file (.mp4 or .wav) in the pink area. In this case all the couples of the media files in the specific folder will be rendered with the same way.
If the [Start capture with click on another window] or [Stop capture when program returns to foreground] is enabled there are situations in which the program can be in unstable state. For example if the OS show a message dialog or something similar. In this case the temporary program's file system can be corrupted with result the lost of audio, video files. This cause the program's gui looks unresponsive, and the user must close the program. For important jobs or long time captures it is safer choice not to enable these properties.
The capture's target window must be on the screen and not minimized. Minimizing the target window when capturing causes failure of process.
Older programs can cause failure due to incompatibility with this program. If this happen then the user has the option to capture the entire screen and not the specific window.
Target windows with small size are not supported. The exact limit is not defined here.
Target windows inactive with no interaction from the user and static content could causes failure or low quality video.
Some issues observed with the Edge target window when the program goes out off focus. Possibly and some other programs have the same behavior.
Keep in mind that this is a Universal Windows application with increased security precautions. These cause audio - video capture's failures in some cases.
The user it is better to close the program after failure or if the gui seems unresponsive.
