Setup: The way in which a trick is established. A setup typically is a trick that utilizes one or two hands.
Examples:
Cartwheel
Roundoff
Touchdown raiz
Scoot
Gumbi
Etc.
Transition: What is used in-between tricks to chain them together
Examples:
Swing through
Punch
Pop
Vanish/Tak
Wrap
Miss-leg
Landing stances:
Complete
Hyper
Semi
Mega
Swing through: the transition in which you land on one leg, the other leg ‘swings through’ without touching the ground, and you jump off of the initial leg you landed on.
Swing throughs are typically used from the complete and semi landing stances.
There are two types of swing throughs, front swing and back swing.
A cork can utilize a back swing through
A raiz can utilize a front swing through
The top example is a back swing through
the bottom is a front swing
Punch: The transition in which you land on both legs and ‘punch’ the ground to rapidly jump into the next trick.
Pop: The transition in which you land on one leg, then the second, and then jump off of both legs. A pop that lands with both legs at the same time, but also has a long pause with a deep squat before the jump is still considered a pop.
Wrap: This transition is a variance of the swing through. Wraps can be done only from the hyper stance. The swing leg ‘wraps’ behind your body to initiate the trick.
Vanish/Tak: The transition in which you land on one leg, the second leg touches the ground, the first initial leg lifts up, and you jump off of only the second leg. This transition incorporates technique from the beginning of a ‘pop’ and the takeoff of a ‘wrap’.
Vanish applies to vertical kicks and various setups. A tornado kick uses a vanish to begin the trick, but you can also vanish into a raiz
Tak fulls use a vanish transition, but only apply to flips.
The tak full equivalent of a cheat900 would be a tak full round
The top 2 are examples of Vanish
This here is an example of tak (still uses a vanish)
Miss-leg: The transition in which you ‘punch’ off of only one leg. A miss-leg is typically utilized from the mega or complete landing stance.
