Curricular Practical Training for F-1 Students
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a form of off-campus work authorization for F-1 students who plan to pursue an internship, practicum, or training experience that is an integral part of their degree program. To be eligible for CPT, a student must:
Complete at least ONE academic year as a full-time student at a US institution in the same degree level.
Receive an offer for a position (paid or unpaid) that is directly related to their academic major
AND
Qualify for CPT under one of the following categories:
*Option 1: Required for Degree - An internship, practicum, or other training experience is required of all students in the degree program.
*Option 2 - Enrolled in a Course for Academic Credit - Student will earn academic credit toward their degree.
*Option 3 - Experiential Learning - Internship is required or available for students in your major for experiential learning; for credit or not for credit. The experience must be approved by your advisor or department chair.
