I am the founder and director of the Gender & Politics Research Lab. The lab brings together faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students to collect original data about gender in politcs. Candidate Gender & Political Endorsements: This project examines how women candidates incorporate their political endorsements into their strategic campaign messages. We argue that women candidates will be more likely to highlight their political endorsements to overcome perceived gaps in their qualifications. The Use of Family in Political Campaigngs: This project examines which candidates include their family members as surrogates in their poiltical campaigns. We look, specifically, at how women candidates incorporate narratives of motherhood into their campaign messages. Undergraduate Student Collaborators: Elise Strain. Black Women's Career Paths & Ambition: This project examines the pathways that Black women take to get to federal political office (Congress). Student led project: Alarryal Bradley.
