Tall Brain fuses mathcore precision with free jazz, embracing the absurdity of music performance. Featuring classicial/jazz musicians active in the vancouver music scene, Adam Kyle on tenor sax, Bahar Khazei on keys, Chris Blaber on drums, Nikko Whitworth on bass. Their sound is a chaotic yet compelling mix of jagged rhythms, dissonant harmonies, and dense improvisation. Tall Brain performances contain non sequiturs such as giving out tax information or sewing demos to give the audience members concerned with their financial situation an advantage when attending our shows.

Tall V Tall

There has never been a more violent feud between two bands. Tall Mary started the tall trend and then Tall Brain, ostentatiously not having any tall members, took ‘tall’ for themselves encroaching on Tall Mary’s market share. On the stage of KW Studios they will battle it out to find out who is the tallest of them all! Judging the tallness of Tall Brain and Tall Mary is dpqb and The Magic Triangle

You too can join in on this war of the worlds too and compete in the evening’s height competition (natural height only, heels don’t count). Both the shortest and tallest person will win a prize! This all stems from Tall Brain’s fearless leader feeling shorter and wondering what the effects of being their height has on their social interactions. Does being tall make you cooler? Do people respect you more? Are you more attractive the taller you get? These questions and more will be discussed throughout the night. Who knows what new things you can blame on your short stature. I know I’m excited to off load some responsibility onto my physical defects.

Sewing 2025

On oct 10th Tall Brain learned how to Sew and taught others how to sew. we had Zel on stage with a sewing machine repairing audience members

Taxes 2025 & 2026

Every Year in late March or early April Tall Brain Teaches people how to file their taxes.

The Basic idea is performing music doesn’t benefit the audience monetarily. So to make it benefit the audience we deliver absurdist PSAs, the band plays elevator jazz while our guitar player expounds on the efficacy of taxes.
