Real Life Example: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
I chose The U.S. because we live in a country where there is a Federal Government made up of three branches (Executive, Legislative, and Judicial), but also individual State Governments that regulate their individual states. A republic is a type of government that has representatives voted into power by the citizens. A Federal Republic just means that the power is divided between the federal government and other individual governments under the federal. The United States' Federal Republics has a constitution which separates the power of the government between the Federal and State Governments. We have a President that is commander in chief, but also state senators and governors that make state decisions and keep the Federal Government in order through checks and balances. These governors are elected into power similar to the president and they do not have to be of the same political party as the president. For example, President Donald Trump is a republican; however, Virginia's governor is Ralph Northam and he is a democrat.

Fictional Example: WAKANDA (BLACK PANTHER FILM)
Even though Wakanda has a king, it is still more like a Federal Republic than a Monarchy. The King has to earn the place of king and the Black Panther by defeating any challengers for the throne. However, this challenger must be selected by one of the 5 tribes that make up Wakanda. Each tribe has control over their individual tribes, and they all come together as the council for the king to make decisions as a nation and country. It resembles a Federal Republic because even though there is a federal government over the whole nation, there are also 5 different tribes each individually governed. There is no written constitution, but their form of government is based on tradition for thousands of years.
