By joining the committee as a student member, you will gain insight into how research societies are managed and you can have your say in shaping the future of the society and events that it runs. The typical time commitment required is one monthly meeting of approx. 30 minutes and you are expected to help with the various annual NIBES activities (symposium, summer and winter social). The Northern Ireland Biomedical Engineering Society (formerly TUBES) originated in 1979 and is led by academics from both Ulster University and Queen's University Belfast. It is dedicated to encouraging and developing collaborative links between research teams, universities, industry and clinicians to further develop medical devices and all things Biomedical Engineering. The Northern Ireland Biomedical Engineering Society had a night of fun at its annual summer social, this year it was held in QUBSU Union Bar and comprised of brainteasers and puzzles with social drinks and networking, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

On Thursday the 23rd of July 2024 the Northern Ireland Biomedical Engineering Society annual symposium was held at Ulster University Belfast.
