Students who accept membership and are inducted into the chapter should be aware of the time and commitment involved with this honor.
Attendance at monthly meetings is taken, and is expected. Members must contact an adviser via email or in person, if they can’t attend, even due to absence.
Service hours as a member. 20 hours of service during junior year (October-May) and 40 hours of service during summer & senior year (June-May)... this includes some school events such as Peer Tutoring, greeting/guiding during Open House and Parent Conferences, NHS stole collection at graduation, etc. as well as other chapter service projects to benefit the greater community. Chapter T-shirts must be purchased and worn at certain events ($15).
Dues ($25 one-time membership covering junior and senior years) are due upon acceptance. Maintenance of 3.5 weighted GPA is required. Falling below 3.5 GPA will result in probation for the marking period. Violation of school, district, or civil regulations, such as cheating, copying or sharing non-collaborative work, plagiarism, involvement with illegal substances, consistent breaking of rules, sexting, or bullying will result in dismissal.
